Day 12 - Giacomo Puccini - Che Gelida Manina (from La Bohème)
La Bohème is one of my favorite opera’s. I’ve got several recordings, but the one above is my favorite. It’s from the Chandos sublabel Opera in English, and yes, sung in English. Makes it more easy to follow the story. The aria Che Gelida Manina is realy fantastic in translation:
All right, I am, but a poor poet.
What’s my vocation? Writing!
Is that a living? Hardly!
None of this on YouTube, you’ll have to do with Roberto Alagna (got a recording with him also) and the more sentimental Mario Lanza.
